The Mets continued to fill out their bullpen, announcing that they had signed Kyle Farnsworth to a minor league deal, with an invitation to spring training. Bobby Parnell is expected to be the Mets' closer, but Farnsworth and the young right-hander Vic Black could vie for the setup role. The team also extended the contracts of Manager Kirk Gibson and General Manager Kevin Towers. Their deals had been set to expire after the coming season.
