When England lost eight successive Ashes series between 1989 and 2002-03 they were invariably underdogs up against some of the greatest players to have played the game. Prior will have done himself some good with his hard-hitting 69, his first half-century for 17 innings, and will take his place at the WACA, but others might be in jeopardy with England asking Gary Ballance and Jonny Bairstow to play for the Performance Programme in Perth today. Plan B: Cook and Andy Flower try to work out some way England can recover to retain the Ashes.
